I am Lucy, the face behind the scenes at Made by Olivy - designer, maker, marketing manager, tea maker, social media boss and parcel packer!

I am wife to Mark and mum to Olivia and Ivy (This is where my business name stems from - a mash up of these two!)  and our crazy little dog Rolo

With my First class degree in Textile Design under my belt I spent the first part of my working life as a knitwear designer, working with many top high street stores which I absolutely loved. I stayed with this after having Olivia (now 14) but once I was pregnant with Ivy (now 10) and a stint as a Freelancer and some lecturing at a local university behind me I knew I couldn't keep up the more than full time hours and the travel that was required and also get the time I needed with my family.... so a change was insight. I spent my first year away from work at home with baby Ivy deciding what to do next.

I have always enjoyed crafts and making things as a hobby from a young age and that is exactly how Made by Olivy began.

A friend was organising a charity fundraising event and asked me if I would like a stall and at the same time I had been making superhero costumes for our family for a party , word of mouth spread and I had orders for superhero capes and birthday rosettes coming in fast and its been blossoming ever since.

Now in my 9th year trading my hobby has turned into a thriving business which I am super proud of. I love the flexibility that working from my home studio gives me around the challenges of day to day family life.

I no longer make the superhero capes but the birthday rosettes have become a firm tradition for so many families.  I love creating something new and unique for them each year.

2 years ago I expanded and purchased a 6 needle embroidery machine - what a game changer!  It was a big investment with many sleepless nights deciding whether to take the plunge - but it has really enabled me to grow my business and offer more products.

Currently my main makes are Birthday Rosettes, bookmarks, personalised keyrings and bag tags. I also release special collections each year for Easter, Halloween, Christmas and Mothers Day including bookmarks, keyrings and hanging decorations.

Over the last couple of years the Christmas Elf accessory side of my business has grown enormously - I have a separate website and social media for this www.totallyelf.co.uk

I am more than happy to produce custom designs and work with you on ideas, just send me over a message to discuss your requirements.

I have met some awesome people on my journey so far, without these and my Facebook & Instagram followers my business wouldn't be what it is today, for this I  am extremely grateful.

Thanks for reading and I hope you like and enjoy what you see on my website.

Lucy xx
